“Calf stretch, forward on your right. Hi, everybody”, our instructor Donna greets us with a smile.
How many years have I been doing this? Can it possibly be over 30? Our class quiets down.
A few minutes ago we had found our “spot”, carefully saved by those around us.
We have greeted each other and quickly caught up on news of grandchildren,
husbands recuperating from surgery, the latest outcome of Dancing with Stars.
We seem to know important things about each other’s lives.
What we don’t know are last names, what kind of houses people live in, what they do or have done for work.
The class feels comfortable. The music begins and we follow Donna’s familiar voice.
The music envelopes us, the brain becomes engaged, our bodies loosen and we lose ourselves in Jacki’s choreography.
Steps fit the music; the music is upbeat and lifts us to do more than we think we can do.
For 40 minutes we are dancers, we are athletes, we are part of a group, we are more than our usual selves.
The time goes by quickly. Tight muscles have loosened; stressed minds have relaxed.
“Clap ‘cause we always have fun,” Donna calls out. And we do, because we did.
We leave energized, thanking Donna and silently Jacki. 30 years? Here’s to many more...

My first introduction to Jacki Sorensen’s dance was about 25 yrs ago.
After a few years the program phased out in my area. I tried many fitness classes but nothing compared.
I was thrilled to see it return to our area but wondered if I could keep up after so many years and two kids.
The music and workout is so challenging and invigorating that you never feel like you are exercising!
It becomes a part of your extended family, we share the moans and groans and support each other with laughter.
My instructor Leslie is terrific, she makes you feel at ease and exudes enthusiasm that is contagious.

I have been taking Jacki Sorensen’s aerobic dancing program for over 31 yrs.
I originally started with two nights a week because I worked full time.
Now that I am retired I am able to attend six days a week!
Jacki Sorensen’s classes are a joyful hour of healthy physical program.
Within that short hour we stretch, do ab work, weights, and of course aerobic routines and end with a cool down.
There are four sessions a year and the music changes every 12 weeks.
The songs are up to date with what is playing on the radio.
Our two experienced instructors Ann Marie and Mary are positive and dedicated to the program.
I look forward to every class, Jacki Sorensen’s is the best stress reliever out there.
I never thought, as a confirmed solitary walker, that I could become addicted to an exercise class.
I have walked 4-5 miles every morning for over 20 yrs.
When I reached one of those milestone ages, I listened to my friends talk about swing and ball room dancing.
I went online to investigate, and came across Jackis Aerobics Dancing, it was close to home,
the costs were reasonable and the atmosphere was very welcoming for a beginner. Now a few years later I love
the friendship of the class and dependable yet energizing routines. Our instructor Ann Marie is uplifting
and it keeps my mind on the class, healthy brains as we age. Hat’s off to Jacki for an excellent program!

II have been participating in Jacki's Strong Step program for over 13 years and I feel so grateful to
the friend who introduced me to the program! I have found no other fitness program that is as consistently
challenging and enjoyable. It is a great cardiovascular workout (at my annual checkup at the doctor's office
they ask me if I'm a runner - I'm not), and the weight work has kept my arms firm and build bone density.
The sessions are always fresh, the instructor is knowledgeable, and my fellow participants offer great
support and encouragement. I would recommend Strong Step to anyone who's interested in finding a fitness
program for the long term.
