Jacki Sorensen’s StrongStep is a low-impact, high energy, maximally effective fitness class that’s fun and easy! Using a STEP to increase lower body resistance, the subtly choreographed routines have an athletic style that appeals to anyone interested in getting a head-to-toe workout.
Each class begins with a light cardiovascular Warmup Routine to increase your metabolism and get you ready to stretch. Without stopping you move on to Vertifirm Exercises which uses the step for lower body resistance, and offers the option of handheld weights to supplement body resistance. These slow controlled Vertifirm moves give you a complete resistance training workout that strengthens and firms your upper and lower body.
The action continues with Corework which is a progression of stretching, abdominal exercises and pushups to strengthen and tighten your entire torso.
Next you begin the Cardio Segment of class. StrongStep is performed at a non-competitive level that is comfortable for you. Adjusting your step to 4 or 6 inches or even doing some or all of the routines without a step allows you to personalize the intensity or each class. These levels of participation make it possible for students of different ages and varying degrees of fitness to all “step” together and our Heartrate System keeps the cardio stepping segment safe and effective. This is your chance to execute interesting combinations and patterns, burn fat for a leaner look and shape up your heart to have more energy.
You finish class with a Cooldown Routine of slow moves and stretches to lower your heartrate which leaves you feeling great about all you’ve accomplished in one hour!
